This album consists of a pair of live recordings from a visit to Davis, California on April 29, 2006. The Magic Carpathians were passing through the U.S. for some shows, and I was kindly invited to open for them in Davis.

During the afternoon, we played an entirely unique show in the back yard of a house in Davis, where students living there had discovered an old underground bomb shelter. Perhaps 15' down a ladder, it was a simple circular metal canister about 20' in diameter, like being in a giant water bottle. See the included insert artwork for a photo of the narrow entrance with ladder. Having been warned, I had a minimal setup, just my guitar, amp, and a bag of effects. It was slightly damp down there but nobody was electrocuted, thankfully. The acoustics were wonderful, sound echoing around in three dimensions.

That evening, we played at Delta of Venus, a comfy bohemian cafe.

This was originally released at the end of 2006 on CDR by Foxglove/Digitalis. Thanks for Brad Rose for the release, and the beautiful handmade paper sleeves.
