This was my fourth cassette under the name Trance, and was another departure. In 1989 on the "Beaten Track" cassette I had shifted to a more symphonic and industrial, and for "Purity" in 1990 I switched it up again, and did a full-noise release. This one used a lot of distorted synth alongside the guitar, and also mixed in recordings from radio, which can be heard here and there submerged beneath the fuzz. The title was intended to convey the simple tools and focus of the cassette -- purely noise. Later I realized it could be taken in bad ways thanks to idiotic fascist noise artists, but the cassette was no longer available by then.

This was my first real noise release, and was a lot of fun. At the time I was listening to albums by friends like Controlled Bleeding, Master/Slave Relationship, and of course Allegory Chapel Ltd, with whom I did many shows around this period. It was around this time that I started playing out in San Francisco and becoming more involved with the extremely healthy experimental scene.

Note that this was catalog number CHC-7, following CHC-5 (by Formula 409) and CHC-6 (Survival Research Labs soundtrack).
